Information required for review

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized representative.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list where appropriate.
  3. Identification and exact location of the material claimed to infringe.
  4. Contact information sufficient to reach the complaining party.
  5. A good-faith statement that the disputed use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the sender is authorized to act.

What happens after submission

The site may request missing information, preserve relevant records, disable access while reviewing the claim, notify the uploader where appropriate, reject an unsupported notice or restore material after a valid counter-notice or other sufficient basis. A submission does not guarantee a particular outcome.

Counter-notices and misrepresentation

If content was removed because of mistake or misidentification, the affected uploader may seek information about a counter-notice. Copyright declarations carry legal consequences; do not use this process for privacy, reputation or ownership disputes unrelated to copyright.

Official resource

See the U.S. Copyright Office Section 512 resources . Accepting a structured notice does not itself represent that the operator has any particular statutory status or that U.S. law governs every dispute.
